2. PS Online Styling

PS_Online_Styling_Ella_Gaskell+copy.jpg

Founded by celebrity stylist Ella-Louise Gaskell in 2020, who pre-covid was a stylist for Netflix shows, magazine photoshoots and fashion editorial work. She created the service for those who still needed a helping hand in how to dress. Her aim is to bring affordable styling to a bigger market.

PS Online Styling is a fully personalised service, in order to match you with pieces perfect for your style, they require you to fill in a detailed questionnaire, which asks you to rank different style types with a 5 tier 'most likely' to 'not very likely' system in order to gauge your personal tastes. The options include the likes of, boho, alternative, street style, elegant, classic and girly. The questionnaire then goes on to ask you how much you generally would spend on key items, such as coats, shoes and handbags. Lastly it will ask you if there are any items you absolutely hate, and things you would never wear. The questionnaire also asks for some of your style icons, and if there are any items in particular that you are in search of.

After receiving your 'style preferences', they match you with a stylist who will get in touch with some follow up questions about your questionnaire, and from there you'll be sent your 'pack'. The pack contains your style mood boards, with a style formula and exclusivities discounts on brands that PS partner with.

There are 2 different services, the STYLE LIGHT, which at £30, includes a 1:1 consultation, 1 personalised mood board, 1 style boards with direct shapable links, a style formula and an additional recommendations page, plus membership to THE CLUB, which gives you access to the latest discount codes. STYLE PRO, at £70 gives you everything listed above, but 3 style boards, giving you more variety and selection of hand picked items tailored to your needs.

My review -

I was kindly gifted a styling session, and was extremely impressed. I enjoyed the questionnaire and believe it was perfectly formed in order to get a good scope of an individuals style tastes and preferences, with the more detailed questions about pricing and style icons being a great addition. The service felt personal, with the stylist contacting me to find out a bit more about myself. The style packs are a work of art, and gave me heaps on inspiration, and helped me to look at my wardrobe in a more capsule, tonal perspective. Overall, I love the brands philosophy of 'buy less, buy better', with us all becoming all that more aware of clothing manufacturing and the environment, I felt like I was doing some good knowing PS Styling only works with sustainable brands, and many that I had never even heard of. I have already made some purchases from their suggested brands, and I will continue to refer back to the mood boards and their partnership brands, especially given the discount codes which are such a perk!

PS Styling have kindly given our readers a discount with code MODEMS50 for 50% off your style pack.

3. Stitch Fix

A styling service for both men & women, StitchFix is a US company. Their style quiz helps match your needs and aesthetic with brands they offer. The quiz asks many questions, about the fit of your clothing, the cuts you refer, and even flash images of different outfits asking ‘is this you?’. The quiz then goes on to ask about your bodily proportions which is a very personal touch, but so important when deciding on what to advise someone to wear. I found this style quiz to be the most personalised and tailored, giving an overall completely bespoke styling service. After taking the extensive quiz, you are created a personal style profile. Next you book a ‘Fix delivery’, a stylist then hand picks some pieces for you. You are able to then preview the items they pick and decide which you want to try at home. Upon trying, you are able to leave feedback on the items - this way your personal style profile will become more tailored to your style and preferences. You only buy what you like, giving this try at home sensation a very appealing factor. The style charge is £10, which is redeemable against any of the items you decide to keep.

4. Lookiero

With an emphasis on ‘how you like to dress in your free time. Lookiero works with 150 European brands in sizes 6-20 creating looks that are as unique as its customers. They offer a box of 5 items, personally selected by a stylist based on your answers to a survey. This survey only allowed you to pick one answer per category, which wasn’t useful if you wear 2 options in any given question. However, it asks for eye colour, hair colour and even to select your body shape from 6 options such as ‘hourglass’ and ‘inverted triangle’. The styling fee is £10 and can also be redeemed on the order. If you decide to keep all 5 items, you will get 25% off the entire order. Payment has to be taken before any preview which is a shames you get no glimpse that the £10 will be worth it or not. I didn’t feel the questions were in-depth enough to have gauged an accurate representation of my personal style, but they did leave a blank space for your instagram handle - to be able to see how you usually dress.

5. WISHI

750x750bb.jpg

Founded by celebrity stylist Karla Welch. Available to download from the App Store, WISHI is the fully personalised and tailored approach to personal style. With a focus on sustainability, and offering advice on styling what is already in your wardrobe. It starts by asking gender identification, body type (petite, curvy etc), what sort of styles you like (streetwear, minimal, boho, girly, sexy, electric), then lastly what brands you like. I noted this was an extensive brand list, and felt this would give the stylist a good idea of the aesthetic that I usually go for. The answers from the quiz then decide which stylist would be best suited to you.

They suggested 3 to me, with a percentage of style matching ranging from 94-98%. Selected ‘Yasmin M’ who had a 98% matching to my style quiz answers, I noticed she was based in New York which excited me as I adore the New York street style. You then get to ‘meet the stylist’ which takes you to a profile, showcasing Yasmins ‘expertise’ which was laid our beautiful with mood boards labelled ; minimal, tomboy, electric, chic, classic and sexy. There are then options of what sort of service you’re looking for. A closet refresh costing $90, a few new looks costing $40-90, and lastly a style refresh costing $40-90. there are 2 options of packages, ‘the wishi mini’ which offers a 1:1 what with your stylist, 2 style boards with curated looks and shapable links, a personalised moodboard, 2 revisions, style and beauty advice, access and discovery to brands worldwide, and a style your closet. The second package offers all of the same, but 5 style boards instead of 2, and a phone call with your stylist, as well as unlimited style advice for a month. This service markets itself as a luxury styling service, by partnering with brands such as Stella McCartney, ByFar, Ganni and even a selection of vintage high end designer items, it really does have such a real, tailored feel to it. I got a great feeling from the quiz, and the questions asked, and would feel confident in the outcome of the personal stylists approach to my style.
