Instagram is going to be expanding Instagram Shopping to more types of businesses and influencers.
This means you’ll soon be able to shop straight off the profile page of your favourite influencers, artists, musicians and more on the platform. These changes will go into effect on 9th July in the UK.
Instagram have said, "We know people want to support the founders and small sellers they love, and we want to make that even easier. With this new update, creators can turn their side-hustles into a shop, as they will be able to share, promote and sell their products on the platform."
Instagram have already created tools like the “support small business” sticker, gift cards and Food Order buttons to help small businesses reach new audiences and drive sales during the pandemic, this update to Shopping will help many more creators to do the same.
Whether you’re a beauty blogger with your own product range, a fitness influencer starting an activewear line, an artist selling prints or an author - any eligible "creator" or business account with at least one product will soon be able to use shopping tags to seamlessly drive people to their website to purchase.
With this new policy, businesses must tag products on Instagram from a single website that they own and sell from. When businesses sign up for Instagram Shopping, they will be notified as soon as they are approved and ready to start tagging products. If a business is not approved, Instagram will offer a clear reason so the account can take the necessary action or appeal.
