Entries for the Pinterest UK Awards 2019 were open to anyone on Pinterest in the UK. Hundreds of British brands, publishers and influencers were recognised in the shortlist from chefs including Anna Jones and Jamie Oliver to high style and beauty influencers Patricia Bright and publishers such as Conde Nast Traveller. The judges included members of the Pinterest UK editorial and creative team who reviewed the entries with three primary criteria including 1. Is the Pin actionable - does it empower people to take action and do it themselves? and 2. Does it inspire people to discover, try or do what they love?
With hundreds of nominations, this year the Pinterest UK Awards award the best original ideas from British creators across multiple categories from Best Dish to Best Beauty Tips and new categories including Best Travel Tips ad Best Video. After reviewing the nominations, the Pinterest editorial team comprised a shortlist that revealed an overall theme of content creation centering on a grounded and down to earth lifestyle.
Key themes of the content on the shortlist included ideas for a sustainable lifestyle (searches up +115%), zero waste travel (searches up +35%), eating with the seasons (searches up +97%) and being domestic (searches up +90%).
*Percent increases are calculated using normalized searches from September 2018 to September 2019.
The winners and runners up will be recognised at an awards breakfast in London this month where they will also receive an award by Pinterest.
