TikTok is launching their own ‘Deliveroo’

‘TikTok Kitchen’ is bringing viral dishes to customers from March 2022

TikTok is taking on Deliveroo with a new food delivery service called TikTok Kitchen that offers food based on viral videos from the platform.

Set to launch in the US in March 2022, ‘TikTok Kitchen’ will let users order popular dishes that were originally created by TikTok content creators.

Gen Z’s favourite video sharing app are teaming up with Virtual Dining Concepts, an Orlando, Florida based marketing firm, for the service. The TikTok Kitchen aims to be a 'virtual restaurant' which will serve diners by delivery, like Deliveroo, from orders placed online.

“The menu is inspired by the hottest food trends on TikTok. The dishes celebrate food trends made famous by TikTok creators. TikTok, with over 1 billion subscribers, provides a space for a wide range of creators to post videos featuring recipes and food hacks.” Virtual Dining Concepts explained in a statement on their website.

Some of the most popular viral dishes we’ve seen emerge from TikTok are ‘baked feta pasta’, corn ribs and 'pasta chips.' It is yet to be confirmed if TikTok Kitchen will be offered within the existing app, or if will be offered on a separate platform.

Initially the service with be available around 300 US locations, but there are plans to expand this number to around 1,000 locations by the end of 2022 according to Virtual Dining Concepts founder Robert Earl.

The company plans to devote profits from TikTok Kitchen to the creators of the dishes and receive credit for dishes on the menu. “Sales will go to both support the creators who inspired the menu item and to encourage and assist other creators to express themselves on the platform in keeping with TikTok’s mission to inspire creativity and bring joy to its users” TikTok explained in a statement.
