The Birkin that doesn’t have a waitlist

But spoiler, you can’t touch it.

Digital designer Mason Rothschild has created a range of 100 Non Fungible Tokens (NFT’s) Hermès Birkin bags to help with fashions ‘fur-free’ initiative. The bags are available to purchase for 0.3-249 Ethereum, which is around $3000, making them the most accessible Birkin on the market. However, you can’t actually ever touch it, of course.

The ‘MetaBirkins’ success has leveraged off Rothschilds previous collaboration which saw his one of a kind, ‘Baby Birkin’, which was an NFT depicting a 40-week pregnancy clearly showing the baby in the uterus. It sold for more than an ACTUAL Birkin bag at $47,000, or 10 Ethereum.

The MetaBirkin was introduced at Art Basel in Miami, with Rothschild voicing the animal-free aspect to luxury fashion’s NFT drive. The Metaverse is the latest digital craze, and it has already seen luxury brands flock to digital creations, as it allows them freedom of expression and imagination, without the heavy pains of textile waste and sustainability.

Would you purchase a MetaBirkin?
